Legitly Voice is a free, browser-based voice-to-text tool. You speak into your phone or computer, and your words appear on screen as text you can edit. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Once you have your text, you can copy, share, email, or publish it for free. If you need a file, you can download a Word, PDF, plain-text, rich-text, subtitle, or audio version — each one comes with a Legitly Certificate of Authenticity.
1. Pick your language
Choose your language from the picker (English is selected by default). Setting the right language helps the recognizer get your words — and your grammar — right.
2. Tap the green microphone
Your browser will ask for microphone access — tap Allow. The button turns red while it is listening, and your words appear live as you speak.
3. Tap the microphone again to stop
Your transcript drops into an editable box, so you can fix anything that was misheard right there.
4. Use your text
Copy it, share it, email it, or publish a view-only link — all free — or download a file with a certificate.
Everything happens on your own device. Legitly never receives, sees, or stores your audio or your transcript, and nothing about what you say is saved in our database.
The speech-to-text is handled by your own browser and device — for example, Apple on an iPhone or Google in Chrome — which converts your speech into text. Your transcript then stays in your browser unless you choose to do something with it.
The “Publish link” button
When you publish a transcript, the text is encoded directly inside the link itself (everything after the #). The words travel inside the link you share — they are never uploaded to or stored on Legitly’s servers. Anyone who has the link can read it, so only share it with people you trust.
Downloads
Word, PDF, text, subtitle, and audio files — and their certificates — are generated on your device at the moment you download them. We do not keep a copy after your purchase.
Always free
Recording your voice and editing the text never cost anything, and neither do these: Copy to clipboard, Share, Email, and Publish a view-only link.
50¢ unlocks your legal document
A single 50¢ payment — as a guest, with no account — unlocks your court-ready legal transcript: a line-numbered document on Legitly letterhead with an affiant declaration, a notary block, and a unique SHA-256 fingerprint. You also receive your original audio recording. Both are securely archived and can be retrieved or verified anytime at legitly.com/voice-check. Available as Word (.docx), PDF, plain text, rich text, subtitles, and audio.
Certificate of Authenticity
Every download includes a Legitly Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) showing the date, time, and location it was created, a unique verification code, and a verification hash. Payments are handled securely by Stripe, and gift cards are accepted.
Legitly Voice works best in Safari (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) and Chrome. It needs an internet connection, because your device’s speech service processes the audio online to turn it into text.
A few things to know
- Open the page directly in your browser. If you save it to your home screen as an app, voice-to-text will not run.
- You may see one or two permission prompts — microphone access, and on iPhone an extra “Allow Speech Recognition.” Both are expected.
- Downloading the audio file needs your microphone alongside the speech engine at the same time; on some phones this is limited, but your text will always work.
We are happy to help with anything about Legitly Voice.
