1. Overview
Brand Verification is the systematic process Legitly™ uses to confirm that we are dealing with a genuine brand owner or its duly authorized representative before that brand is granted verified status, a white-label experience, or the verified badge described below. The purpose is to protect consumers and legitimate brands by ensuring that only the actual brand can authenticate its products through our platform.
This page describes our process and is subject to our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Anti-Counterfeit Agreement.
2. The Brand Verification Process
We use a tiered process. The level of diligence applied depends on the brand, the risk involved, and the information provided.
Step One — Direct Email Verification
We first establish direct email contact using an address on the brand’s own domain (for example, email@brand.com). Confirming control of the brand’s official domain email is the primary method we use to establish that we are communicating with the actual brand rather than a third party.
Step Two — Enhanced Diligence (Where Needed)
Where additional confirmation is warranted, we may conduct further investigation, which can include:
- reviewing the brand’s trademark records and ownership information;
- cross-checking the information provided against authoritative sources;
- confirmation through the address the brand provides, in some cases by private courier; and
- matching that information against what is listed on the brand’s official Google Business profile only.
This enhanced diligence is not applied in every case. It is most commonly used for large corporations, enterprises, and conglomerates, where the brand’s domain, trademark, address, and official business listing information should all match. We may request any documentation reasonably necessary to complete verification, and we reserve sole discretion to approve, condition, decline, or revoke verification.
3. The Verified Badge
Upon successful verification, the brand is recognized on the platform with the blue verified check mark displayed next to the manufacturer name in verification results, signaling to consumers that the manufacturer has completed Legitly’s Brand Verification process.
The official badge asset is provided at /images/Verified_Badge.svg.
4. What Verified Status Means — and Does Not Mean
5. Eligibility
Brand Verification is available to companies, brands, distributors, creators, and similar businesses that can demonstrate brand ownership or authorization. Verification is a prerequisite for API access, white-label provisioning, and certain technical assistance, as described on the API Access page. We may decline verification where brand authenticity cannot be confirmed.
6. Maintaining, Suspending, and Revoking Verified Status
We may re-verify a brand at any time and may request updated information. We reserve the right to suspend or revoke verified status and remove the verified badge, with or without notice, including where: verification was obtained through inaccurate or misleading information; the brand or its representative breaches our agreements; control of the brand’s domain, account, or business listing changes; or we reasonably believe continued verification poses a risk to consumers, brands, or the integrity of the platform.
7. How to Get Verified
To begin Brand Verification, contact us through the “Chat Now” button on our homepage, our live support page at /support-now, or by email at info@legitly.com. Please be prepared to verify control of your brand’s official domain email and to provide supporting information on request.
8. Acceptable Use and Misuse
You shall not misrepresent your identity, brand ownership, or authorization; apply for verification on behalf of a brand you do not own or represent; copy, recreate, or display the verified badge except as authorized for a brand that Legitly has verified; or use the badge in a false or misleading manner. Misuse is a material breach of our Terms of Service and Anti-Counterfeit Agreement and may result in suspension, revocation, and all available legal remedies.
9. Changes to This Page
We may update this Brand Verification page and our verification procedures from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date, and changes apply prospectively.
