1. Overview

Encrypted Messages (available at qr.legitly.com) is a Legitly™ tool for sending a private message that is encrypted, opened once, and then permanently destroyed. It is built for moments when you need to share something sensitive — a password, an account detail, a private note — without leaving a lasting copy behind.

2. How the Technology Works

When you create a message, it is encrypted and made available through a single-use link. The core principles are:

• Nothing is stored on our network. The service is designed so that your message content is not retained on Legitly’s servers as a readable, persistent record.
• Single use. The link is designed to work only once. As soon as the message is read, it is automatically deleted and cannot be opened again.
• Self-destructing by default. Because the message is removed after a single read, there is no archive for a later reader, an intercepting party, or even us to retrieve.

3. Why It Is Useful

Ordinary email and chat keep a copy of whatever you send — often in multiple places, indefinitely. Encrypted Messages is useful when you want the opposite: a message that exists only long enough to be read by its intended recipient and then disappears. Common uses include sharing credentials, one-time codes, sensitive personal details, or any note you do not want sitting in an inbox.

4. How to Use It

1. Open qr.legitly.com and enter your message.
2. Generate the single-use link.
3. Send the link to your recipient through any channel you choose.
4. When they open it, the message is shown once and then automatically deleted.

5. Acceptable Use and Disclaimer

You agree not to use Encrypted Messages for any unlawful purpose, to transmit malware, or to share content you do not have the right to share, consistent with our Terms of Service. The tool is provided “as is” as a convenience; while it is designed not to store or retain message content, no system can guarantee absolute security, and you use the tool at your own discretion for the sensitivity level involved.
